When our dog developed a liking for eating slugs from the garden we didn’t relish the idea.  Although, in general terms, anything that helped to reduce the number of these garden pests was OK with us.  We stopped him from consuming these free “treats”  however, because we had used pellets to destroy them, and although these pellets were claimed not to be be harmful to pets we were not prepared to take any chances.   The real danger from his newly developed habit however was from the fresh slug itself.  If your dog consumes slugs or snails there is a  danger that it could become infected with lugworm.  Click the link below to find out more about this everyday danger to your dog.
